Shift Your Focus Into a New Desirable Life

Many if not most of the challenges people face are the result of years of thoughts, actions and emotions directed towards the very obstacles and challenges they are trying to overcome. This is the crux of what I believe Einstein was trying to convey to us in his very compelling quote.
In my experience as a coach, I have found that it really doesn’t matter what the challenge is. A lot of the initial work I find myself doing with clients is helping them recognize that a great majority of their current angst stems from the fact that they spend most of their time thinking about and feeling the stress and anxiety of what they are trying to overcome. They are focusing on what they DON’T want!
Duh! You say!
Yes, what I am saying may, at first, seem counterintuitive, but the first and perhaps most integral step to overcoming a challenge such as getting in shape, losing weight or overcoming or managing stress is to shift your focus off of what is causing you anxiety and place it on the state that you wish to achieve. Focus on what you DO want!
It is from this state of mind that solutions, specific actions and creative ideas flourish. It is from this state of mind that your feeling becomes elevated to one of inspiration and exuberance. When you shift your focus onto the goal or desired state that you wish to achieve, you fill your focus with confidence and belief that you can in fact get there. Your whole frame of being changes and you become more positive, hopeful and upbeat about the steps you are currently taking right now and how they fit into your overall plan to successfully transform that area of your life.
You become infused with enthusiasm and y9our actions are guided with more passion into the steps you need to take to move closer to your goal. Closer to your ideal self. When you focus on the solution to your challenge, you feel lighter about life and more optimistic that what you actually want is attainable.
So, tell me in glorious detail. What is it you want for yourself? Forget what is in the way for a moment and close your eyes and paint a clear picture of what you want for yourself.
Is it fitting in that new summer dress you plan on wearing to your friend’s wedding this summer? Is it seeing yourself crossing the finish line of your first 10k or marathon? Is it feeling energetic playing with the kids outside? Is it the glow you feel noticing your lover look at you wantingly as you walk into the room?
Only you set the limit of what you can achieve. Only you have the power to control what you focus your attention on and thus move toward. Make the decision today to focus on what you want instead of what you don’t want. Then open your eyes and watch the magic happen!
