In my last post I gave 5 ways to increase inner peace at work. These 5 ways for creating inner peace at work can be rendered completely futile in this task if you and your work are not aligned.
If your heart beckons you to own your own business as an interior designer and you are currently working full-time as an accountant then you are living in a state of acute incongruence and you will feel the constant tug of Divine Discontent in your heart. Peace for you in its most complete sense will be fleeting until you begin taking the necessary steps to begin living the life you truly crave.
The first step is to acknowledge that you do in fact want to be doing something else. The second is to get extremely clear what that is. Third, and this initially may be the most challenging mental aspect is to believe that you can actually be who it is that you really want to be. Doing what you love and sharing your unique and special gift to the world.
If you are spending hours on end every day in an unfulfilling and passionless job it inflicts a heavy emotional toll on you. As much as I preach that in every situation lay an inherent and life affirming lesson when you spend that much time everyday doing what you dread or simply recognize as a job not in line with your core life values you are fighting an uphill battle in mastering your inner peace.
The good news is that digging your self out of that hole is really quite simple. Start by taking some time either alone or with someone you respect and trust and brainstorm what it is that you would like to be doing with the rest of your life. Get as clear as you possibly can, including setting up what your ideal work schedule will actually look like. Also, what your ideal workday would look like. If you are contemplating going into business for yourself define your ideal client or customers. Make your vision crystal clear.
Next, create for yourself an ideal yet realistic timeline for achieving your ideal life. Is it going to take 1 month to simply set out and find a new job or is it going to take 2 or 3 years to raise the capital and create the necessary environment for starting your own business or private practice. Be as accurate in your estimation as possible. Detail all of the necessary steps you will need to take to make your transition. Do you need to raise money? Do
Finally, take action! So far this plan for changing your life has been very straight forward if not simple and easy. With the clarity of your personal vision and a plan for carrying out your vision of your ideal life you are ready to make a massive impact on not only how your reality manifest day-to-day but also how you feel about it.
When you begin taking steps everyday you’ll notice instantly that your mood is elevated and you feel a renewed sense of energy in how you approach everything.
The people you encounter, your current profession your relationships, everything you do will be infused with the excitement of you discovering, honoring and creating your life exactly as you desire it. It won’t happen overnight but the time it takes you to accomplish this mission is completely inconsequential, especially early on.
What is most important is that you take meaningful steps, however small everyday towards your desired outcome. This can be as little as 15 minutes a day until you can create more time.
I just finished writing my third book entitled, 29 Degrees – How to Live A Life Filled with Inner Peace, Joy and Fulfillment Regardless of Circumstances, I spent the first 6-months simply executing writing 15 minutes a day whether I knew where I was going with it or not. At one point I reached a threshold and my 15-minutes became 30-minutes. I finished my 55,000-word document after about 2-years of this practice.
I’m sharing this with you this because I myself was coached by someone else to give this practice a try and it worked beautifully. And because I was able to honor myself and followed through with this strategy, I can look back at the past 2-years and feel a wonderful sense of accomplishment.
Search your heart. Do you sense a feeling of Divine Discontent? Do you feel like there is a mission implanted in you that is laying dormant waiting for you to activate it and fulfill a purpose that the world desperately needs? Now is the time to lay down any regret of putting it off. Now is the time to get clear, make a plan and take action.
What you will find is that as you take action every day your level of anxiety and stress slowly decreases because you have placed yourself in alignment with your authentic self and from a place of genuine congruence you are better able to accept life exactly as it unfolds because you have made a commitment to be true to yourself which is a great foundation for all meaningful relationships and accomplishments to come.
